This is not about tying scarves...
But about volume, houndstooth and stripe combinations, and the American colors.
It's about my new Tretorn by Acne nylon sneakers.
Or the lady in pink behind me who reminds everybody that this is just a shoot and scarves and beanies belong back to the office where it's perpetually airconditioned.
Once again- and with feeling - maybe this is merely about using peelable accessories for the tropical climate, where it's really quite cumbersome to keep on wearing and removing jackets and sweaters in and out of the workplace.

Well, not exactly. Images also from Copenhagen and Paris fashion weeks, taken for Stil in Berlin.

No matter how many bright and jewel colors were presented in the Fall 2009 menswear shows, I suppose many still prefer commiserating with the weather.

Blog anniversaries are everyday things. That's why I am announcing El Bosquejo's first year anniversary, which falls tomorrow, within an outfit post. (Technically, the blog started in 2007 with just one post. So I begin my count on July 22.)
Let me just say that I am happy just to have had the chance to reach out to people, talk to them online, even inspire them.
Many things have changed, from the format to the content, and I am planning on even more developments. But I will be needing your help. I will be setting up polls on my sidebars about the blog's content, asking you, my readers, all sorts of stuff — from current blog favorites to reader suggestions. I hope you take part.
I don't think you have been introduced well to these Tretorn x Acne sneakers.
One of the changes I have in mind are reader features. In addition to writing about fellow bloggers or famous people like models, designers, and artists, I am interested in you, my readers. If you have been following this blog for even more than a week, it must mean that we have something in common.
I want to know more about you, what you do, your thoughts on fashion, art, or anything written on or linked from this blog. What inspires you? What makes your creativity tingle? What makes you skip sleep?
Feel free to leave comments about yourself or links to your page. Better yet, leave me an email (miguelpaolocelestial@gmail.com). Let's sit down over electronic coffee and have a talk. Who knows what kind Reader Posts we can cook up?

Black and relaxed
These have been the laziest of days. Quite evident with my lack of outfit posts. I don't even want to get up, much less put in some effort in dressing. Blame the rain, blame the dragging year, blame the dark and the lack of inspiration.
But I definitely cannot blame the color black, which is reliable in these times of indecision. Today, I decided I wanted the color in layers, mixed with a little navy blue. It's power lies in its ability to become instant armor.
Yes, I'm still in Manila. The reason why I can wear three top pieces is because of thickness. The bottom tee is really just an undershirt. Above it, is a thin, sheer, double-breasted cardigan that weighs almost as much as a scarf. The sweater, of course, is just for the office, and comes off once I leave the building.
I have found that it is possible to do layering in a tropical country, just as long as no single piece is thick. I have also found that it is alright to be lazy in coming up with an outfit, just as long as you have tried and tested a few reliable combinations.
(For those who work in Manila's central business district, can you guess which building I am in?)

Sold out shoes in tan and mustard yellow from Acne and Mr Hare
Was browsing the shoes over at Oki-ni and found these. Talk about beautiful colors.
These are perfect as subtle accents to dark-colored are blue denim-based outfits. Unfortunately, they are both posted as sold out.
I know these Acne Agra sandals may be a little late for the rainy season, and their light color can only get ruined by the rain (ie water spots), but once I saw them, how can I imagine sunny weekends without a stroll in this pair?
The sandals are as delicious as a thin watch, and with its rubber sole, definitely more versatile and useful.
Ever since the debut of Mr Hare's shoes, I've kept an eye on the label because of its interesting designs, like the Fitzgerald and the Orwell from the "Purest form" Fall Winter 2009 collection.
But it was only when these Felas from the "Hot steppers" Spring Summer 2010 collection came along that I fell hard.
I am not sure what draws me more — the tan color or the fact that the shoes are cut from one piece, making them look like second skin on the feet. (The way the laces are placed make them look like stitches.)
I mean just look at them: they are children of the sun, creatures of summer meant to be broken in.
Shoes spend most of their time in an old state yet we largely design them to be at their most desirable when new. The Fela is a beautiful shoe in reverse. It is a whole cut so there is no superfluous detailing to become outmoded. Built on the Miller last, the Fela is a fundamental of the summer wardrobe. Perfect for denim, whites, khakis, seersuckers, whatever you have got.
It is made from vegetable tanned vachetta leather which is the closest thing you will find to a skin that still has an opinion of it’s own. It will age and form a patina of it’s own choosing. You can influence this process by the considered application of natural beeswax (supplied) but ultimately each pair will take on their own characteristics. The vachetta part of this shoe must be caringly rubbed down with Beeswax at least as often as you wash your car even if that is only twice a year.
With proper care, I think shoes like these are my ideal life companions: functional, beautiful without being haughty, simple and confident. If only Oki-ni decides to restock them...
Night in navy blue
Remember the blue Japanese kimono robe I wore with a tank top and sheer sweater last June? Well this is the November outfit version — more suitable for the slight chill in the breeze.
This time I wore the robe loosely tied.

Quick Friday snap
These semi-blurred pictures were not planned. As I was rushing from work, I suddenly thought of asking a stranger at an underpass to take a few clicks. I realize now that I really must love the euphoria of being fully occupied, of running from one thing to the other, of crossing out To Do items in a packed list.
But as in these pictures, no one can see clearly behind the blur, or in this case, through my grandmother knit. It is a miracle that I can still hang on to the only thing I know that truly makes me happy. And that cannot be hurried. But for now, I must go.
