L'Uomo Vogue: Histoire blanche

More than a sentimental trip back to the baroque, this editorial is an ode to the genius of Hedi Slimane, and to the uncanny mix of his vision with the tradition of the house of Dior.

L'Uomo Vogue

I had written about Vogue Italia before, featuring their covers from various decades and also praising both the editorial vision and the personal style of its editor, Franca Sozzani, but I had never realized that its men's counterpart, L'Uomo Vogue, was such a breathtaking magazine.

From the few issues that I have, I was awed by the way it captured past and present eras (in this case, projecting a future one) with the decadence of emotion, but practicing enough restraint to render its images possible, near to wearable.

L'Uomo Vogue presents a man who is intense and at the same time aloof. In spite of his style jests, he is ultimately simple and grounded, confident of who he is.

Upon reading (actually just looking at!) this magazine, I am more and more convinced of the viability of fashion photography as a visual art. L'Uomo Vogue raises images to the level of intimate moments - even portraits.

WestEast: Luminous alloys

As an introduction to two colorful editorials from this spring's issue of Numéro Homme, here is an editorial from way back in 2003 from Hong Kong-based WestEast magazine, for which I have been a regular contributor.

I have mustard yellow jeans and have always found them challenging to wear, especially since the climate here doesn't allow the same layering as these outfits.

Six years after and bright colors - flourescents, neons, and hot tints - still find their way into collections and shoots, and are still put together with metallics. Let's see how I'll wear my yellow jeans this time around.

this is what i've chosen from milan fashion week fall 2011, as i promised;) i concentrated on main labels, so this is like the best from the best. i absolutely adore masculine part of dolce&gabbana fall 2011 collection, it's just perfect, like mix of punk and depeche mode! 

yesterday started paris fashion week and i'm waiting impatiently for chanel show, how will karl lagerfeld surprise us this time? i'll add something from latest shows from paris. and now - goodnight!
