Stockholm street style

There must be something in the air in the Swedish capital.

A whiff of understated chic.

An atmosphere of personal invention.

These images from Stockholm Street Style are evidence of a prevalent creative mood.

Style that is nonchalant.

Where casual and dandy do not only meet on the same street.

But find themselves with the same person, like this gentleman.

Who is as likely to wear a boutonniere and green leather gloves as a casual hat.

Even so, notice the enormous laces of his shoes. Something unexpected with his monochromatic outfit.

This next ensemble is so common but still it is worn somewhat differently.

Is it just his bearing, his confidence?

Is it just the sunlight?

Even these torn jeans are ubiquitous.

But just take a look at those boots!

Yes, it must be the air.

A connivance of simplicity and pizzaz.

Effortless expression.

Unforced idiosyncracies

Always with light humor and steady enjoyment.

Another Gustav Broström brooch

While Gustav has been sorely missed at Mode Man, his departure from the Swedish menswear blog doesn't mean he's lost his touch. Yvan again takes a snap of him on the French blogger's trip to Stockholm.

Who would have thought yarn would look so spiffy with a suit jacket? Previously, he used a giant safety pin, and it was Scott who photographed him.

I bet these are just some of his accessories from his treasure trove. Go see his new blog to find out exactly what these items are.

Gustav Broström from Stockholm

Gustav appears again on Stockholm Street Style, after being spotted by Scott Schuman.

What's more, we discover that he also blogs for a site called Mode Man.

I especially like his entry on biker boots. Besides that, he has good catalogue-like selections on specific items, looks constructed from separate pieces, notes on editorials, and even street shoots.

This is him with punk hair inspired by Hedi Slimane.

From brooch to coat fastener

Swedish fashion editor Gustav Broström reuses his enlarged safety pin brooch to close his coat.

Both shot by Scott Schuman. You can see the development in the style of photos from The Sartorialist. The bottom one was taken in August 2008 and the top one just recently.

Black and white from Berlin and Stockholm

Even if Eyke may have borrowed his mother's lace-collared polka dot blouse, his cape, ripped and gaping jeans, boots, and hat more than make up in keeping his outfit masculine.

Linus, on the other hand, looks like a mama's boy, with everything coming in matching pairs: hat and bowtie, shirt and pocket square, jacket and shoes. Even the camera matches his pin. The pants, in this picture, go with the background paint.
